American Career College’s Medical Assistant Program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to begin their careers in a medical office, clinic, HMO or other health care setting.
Medical Assistants perform administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors and other health practitioners running smoothly. The duties vary from office to office, depending on the location and size of the practice and the practitioner’s specialty. In small practices, medical assistants usually do many different tasks, handling both administrative and clinical duties. Those in large practices tend to specialize in a particular area, under the supervision of department administrators.
At American Career College, students develop competency in preparing patients for examinations, performing back office clinical procedures, administration of medications and routine laboratory duties. This training is coupled with a thorough knowledge of the front office skills necessary to run an efficient medical office.
The daily activities of a Medical Assistant may include:
